SAMPLE ITINERARY / WHAT TO EXPECT

This is a sample itinerary of the riding and experiences you may have on your trip. Life in Egypt runs on a different type of clock, so expect some changes along the way. The itinerary is fluid, and any changes will always be made with your best interests at heart – perhaps ticking off extra bucket list moments, finding unique dining locations and discovering places off the beaten track. Other non-riding activities, such as quad biking, camel rides, and local markets, can be booked when you arrive. You’ll have a personal guide to show you the secrets of this amazing country!

DAY 1: DAY OF ARRIVAL IN SHARM EL SHEIK

Upon arrival to Sharm El Sheikh Airport, you’ll be greeted and taken on a scenic one-hour road journey to Dahab, a charming old fishing village overlooking the Red Sea. Nestled between the majestic mountains and the azure waters of the Red Sea, Dahab is renowned for its laid-back atmosphere, its vibrant Bedouin culture, clear turquoise waters, and numerous water sports activities. Your accommodations await at an authentic guest house with breathtaking views of the sea. Welcome to Dahab, where your Bedouin magic adventure begins. After a relaxing afternoon, enjoy dinner with your hosts and fellow riders.

For those who want to spend longer in Egypt, you can add a night in Cairo before your adventure!

DAY 2: SNORKELLING IN THE BLUE HOLE & INTRODUCTORY RIDE

Kickstarting your adventure in Dahab, you’ll embark on a full-day ride, with a highlight being a visit to the famous Blue Hole. There, you’ll have the opportunity to go snorkelling, exploring the vibrant coral reefs and underwater wonders. Renowned as one of the most spectacular diving spots in the world, the Blue Hole is a captivating sinkhole plunging vertically to depths of around 94 meters (approximately 308 feet) with the ocean floor extending even deeper beyond that point. This area boasts crystal-clear waters teeming with colorful marine life. To recharge, indulge in a delicious lunch amidst picturesque surroundings.

In the afternoon, you will go on a 2-hour introductory ride just as the sun begins to set. Horses are revered in Egypt, so they always bring a smile to people’s faces as you ride past through the Bedouin villages. As you get to know your horse’s personality, you will be amazed at how kind-hearted and generous they are despite their hot-blooded natures. Sensitive and inquisitive, they are also incredibly brave and 100% bombproof!

Your day ends with a traditional dinner in the oasis under the stars, where you’ll experience the warmth and hospitality of the local Bedouin culture.

DAY 3: FULL DAY RIDE & SWIM WITH THE HORSES IN THE BLUE LAGOON

After a sumptuous breakfast, get ready for a full day of riding, exploring both the inland desert and coastal trails. You’ll also have the unique experience of swimming with horses at the Blue Lagoon. This sheltered pond of clear, shallow, relaxing water is an iconic natural wonder — an oasis of azure waters nestled between rugged desert mountains and the sparkling waters of the Red Sea. The area also features long sandy stretches, perfect for exciting canters and some incredible views.

At the hottest part of the day, you’ll pause for lunch, enjoying a delicious meal surrounded by the natural beauty of the Blue Lagoon. Then saddle up again to explore further! In the late afternoon, enjoy some beach time, or relax in your room before dinner with the rest of your group.

DAY 4: OFF-ROADING TO THE WHITE CANYONS (NON-RIDING)

You’re set for an exciting day of off-road exploration and hiking in the stunning White Canyons. Famous for its striking white rock formations and its narrow paths, this area offers a unique and otherworldly landscape.

You will begin with an off-road safari, navigating the rugged desert terrain in 4×4 Jeeps. Upon reaching the White Canyon, you’ll hike through the winding passages of soft white sandstone, sculpted by wind and water over millennia. Following a satisfying lunch, you’ll head to a natural spa pool to relax and rejuvenate in the warm mineral-rich waters.

In the evening, you’ll return to Dahab for dinner and a lively party at the Dahab Paradise Hotel, celebrating the day’s adventures with good food, music, and dancing.

DAY 5: WADI QNAI - RIDE, DINE & CAMP UNDER THE STARS

Enjoy a relaxed morning before heading off for an adventurous day of riding through the stunning Wadi Qnai, a picturesque valley known for its rugged mountains, winding trails, and lush palm groves. You’ll ride between 12 and 6 PM, giving you plenty of time to explore the landscape with its striking contrasts, from towering rocky cliffs to verdant oases dotted with palm trees.

In the evening, you’ll gather for a delightful dinner in the heart of Wadi Qnai. For those seeking an even more immersive experience, there is the option to camp and sleep under the stars — where you can gaze upon the mesmerizing Milky Way from the warmth of your sleeping bag, adding an extra touch of magic to your experience.

DAY 6: BOAT TRIP TO RAS ABU GALUM (NON-RIDING)

Option 1: Speed junkies can join a private quad bike safari through the desert terrain surrounding Dahab. Navigate sandy dunes and rocky hills against the backdrop of the golden Sinai desert mountains.

Option 2: Alternatively, nature lovers can choose to relax and unwind in a sauna nestled within the oasis. Surrounded by calm and tranquility, you can unwind and relax in the soothing heat.

Today’s adventure ends with another delicious traditional Bedouin dinner.

DAY 7: SUNRISE RIDE AT THREE POOLS & EXPLORE DOWNTOWN DAHAB

You will start your day with an early morning ride to the “Three Pools,” a scenic spot boasting a series of interconnected natural rock pools with sandy bottoms. After your early morning ride, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast served near local caves.

For lunch, you’ll return to the hotel where you can relax by the pool or opt for a pampering session at the spa.

In the mid-afternoon, you’ll head downtown for some shopping and to see some of the vibrant culture this area is known for. Dahab’s streets are bustling with markets and boutique shops offering a variety of souvenirs and local treasures. Take your time to explore and soak up the lively atmosphere! The guides love showing you secret spots and favorite craft markets.

As the sun begins to set, you’ll head back to the seafront for a delicious seafood dinner. Dahab is renowned for its fresh seafood, and there’s no better way to savor it than against a panoramic backdrop of the Red Sea.

DAY 8: LAST RIDE & DEPARTURE

On your last day, you will go on an early morning 3-hour ride around the oasis to explore and soak in the beauty of your surroundings one last time. After saying goodbye to the horses, you’ll head back to the hotel to freshen up.

Check out from the hotel is at 11:30, marking the start of your journey back to Sharm El Sheikh airport. It’s time to say goodbye for now unless you have booked one of our fabulous extensions to Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.

HOW WE CARE FOR OUR HORSES

Our horseback adventures are hand-picked for their quality and care of their horses. Here’s how the horses in Egypt are kept in tip-top shape for your safaris. Our horses are on top of the hierarchy and receive very special care:

  • Based in Luxor, they are able to grow most of their own horse food, being quinoa, barley and corn. Quinoa gives is a pure protein so it works the same way as when body-builders have a high protein diet whilst training, great for power and muscle. Corn, known as “fatty power” meaning it’s good for maintaining a healthy weight. Barley locally called Sheerie is a great all-rounder. All of these local grains are grown and dried on the farm
  • The stables were purposely built with the horses in mind. They have low walls between each of the horses so they can socialize with each other and large sandy paddocks for grazing and frolicking. There are also a number of rescued dogs, cats and donkeys at the stables giving a wonderful farm feel
  • The horses are groomed and fed twice or three times a day to ensure they are happy and healthy
  • The horses get the majority of the hot summer months off, just doing shorter trails or day rides
  • Generally, the riding hours are in the cooler morning and afternoons, giving the horses and guests a rest during the hottest times of the day. The horses get lunch, water and a long rest in the shade
  • All tack is purposely bought for each horse, and cleaned and checked daily
  • All horses are purposely chosen to suit each rider’s preference and riding ability
  • The horses have a varied routine and have plenty of rest days
