A TYPICAL DAY AT WILD RIDE
Wake up to the sounds of the African bush and start your morning with a fresh cup of coffee or tea as the first light filters through your safari tent. If it’s your turn for feeding duty, head down to the stables to help prepare breakfast for the horses, soaking in the peaceful rhythm of life on the reserve. Afterward, everyone gathers to perform basic vet checks and groom their horses, building a deep connection with their equine partners before the day’s adventure begins.
Saddle up and set out on an exhilarating morning ride through the stunning Bezhoek Private Nature Reserve. Canter across open plains, navigate rocky outcrops, and track wildlife as you weave through riverine forests and golden grasslands. Keep an eye out for giraffes, zebras, and antelope, all part of the thriving ecosystem of this untouched wilderness.
After an unforgettable ride, return to camp to untack, groom, and turn out the horses before indulging in a well-earned lunch. The afternoon is yours to enjoy. Take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, lounge with a book on your private deck, or simply soak in the serene surroundings.
As the sun begins its descent, embark on an evening ride bathed in golden light, the perfect time to witness wildlife at its most active. Some afternoons might bring longer excursions, including full-day rides with breathtaking bush picnics. Those staying longer may even experience a magical night under the stars, sleeping alongside the horses and sharing stories around the fire.

HOW WE CARE FOR OUR HORSES
Our horseback adventures are hand-picked for the quality and care of their horses. Here’s how the horses in South Africa are kept in tip-top shape. The horses are on top of the hierarchy and receive very special care:
- They believe in Natural Horsemanship and riders are encouraged to ride with light hands, a deep seat, and longer stirrups to create a balanced and smooth ride
- The horses are not stabled but allowed to roam freely in large paddocks day and night, giving them the freedom to move and play naturally, creating a low-stress environment and allows our horses to simply be horses
- Horses are fed and groomed twice a day to maintain their energy and health
- Swimming is a regular part of the exercise routine, to encourage muscle building, promote good blood circulation and overall health
- The horses are barefoot and receive visits from the farrier every six weeks to ensure their hooves are in top condition
- The horses are trained to be wildlife-safe, ensuring a relaxed and confident experience for both rider and horse when encountering the diverse wildlife of the area
- For tack, lightweight endurance saddles and traditional bridles are used for to provide comfort and durability, ensuring that the horses are equipped for the best experience on safari
