Legendary horses, galloping through the bush, tracking lions, delicious food, and amazing guides; sounds like the perfect vacation to us! Check out Bryony’s recount of her epic South Africa and Botswana Combination horse safari.
Everything about this holiday was perfect from start to finish. The guides were so wonderful, they made me feel incredibly safe at all times and all of the other staff and students were just lovely. Shingai was my guide in SA, so much fun and lots of speedy (very speedy!) canters. In Botswana I had Mpho and Festus who were both such legends. One evening they took us to track a lion. Driving through the bush in the dark tracking a lion is something I will certainly never forget! Then the next day, we saw him from horseback, what a rush!
The horses I rode were exactly what I was looking for; they had matched me perfectly. I had Tom Thumb in SA and Rodeo in Botswana. When I got back to SA I also got to ride Rodeos son, Pops – so cute!
I did not expect to eat so well! Oh my gosh all the food was delicious and I certainly did not ever go hungry.
Thanks so much for everything, it was definitely worth the wait. Now, where can I go next?!

Bryony is a London based drinks PR/Communications Manager. Her busy city life is made more manageable by weekly riding in Londons glorious Richmond Park, with her lovely riding club and share horse. Riding in Africa has been a dream since stumbling across AHS on Instagram a few years ago, and, after a few covid cancellations, she finally made it to South Africa and Botswana for the most magical adventure… and here begins the Africa addiction!
